I purchased one of these ‘Granny leads’ last week from Tomas. He kindly fitted a BS EN 60309-2 16 A 6H plug to the lead at no extra cost (this is the blue 16A connector usually used at campsites and marinas). It arrived yesterday. The total cost with free shipping with the discount was around £228. The current setting can be adjusted between 6A and 16A in 1A steps with a single button. The ESVE is built into the Mennekeys type 2 connector so there is no box half way down the cable. The build quality appears to be good. The cable is 2.5mm2 and the wires have ferrules fitted to the ends in the connectors. I’ve given it a quick check with my ZOE and there were no problems with the 10A and 16A settings. I’ll test it more extensively when I have a chance but at a first glance it all looks good to me.
Tomas said that he had sold around 20 units to Norway Zoe owners but I was the first in the UK.March 11, 2016 at 11:17 #26815
ill be very interested in your experience with this cable. If it all works well I’ll be getting one with 3 pin UK plug on it. I want to know I is safe though and has all safety features of original cable. Temperature cut off and RCD cut off etc…March 11, 2016 at 12:07 #26818
I don’t know the answer to these questions, if you go to the website Tomas should be able to answer your question. I suspect there isn’t an RCD as there is no switch to reset one. I can’t easily take the Mennekeys connector apart to see what’s in it as the cable gland is a large plastic nut with a slight taper on the faces. Without the correct tool it would be difficult to remove without damaging it. The connector itself is screwed together with Torx screws.March 11, 2016 at 20:35 #26836
Do you think it is waterproof enough to be outside all night?March 11, 2016 at 23:38 #26838
I have contacted Tomas, and he can make the cable with a 3 pin UK plug. However I am yet to pull the trigger. I just need some more assurance it is safe and waterproof.March 12, 2016 at 11:55 #26844

Everything is built into a standard Mennekeys plug which shouls be warerproof. The button with its in-built led is a waterproof type and mounted on the top of the plug so I don’t think there willl be any ingress problems there. It will be as waterproof as any other Mennekeys plug.March 25, 2016 at 12:22 #27069
