    Hi Trevor,

Sorry if we’re a bit late to the party but we’ve only just became Zoe owners and joined.

I host a number of wordpress sites and those still hosted on Windows run really poorly, slow load times etc.. Move the exact same sites to linux and the sluggish wordpress instances suddenly fly along.

A lot of research into this suggest that wordpress is a right pain to optimise well for IIS (Windows web server), so we’ve pretty much given up trying.

I’m sure we could find room to host (and manage updates etc. for) the myrenaultzoe.com site and / or forum on a linux VM for nothing (as in completely free, no charges for anything, no adverts, no restrictions) if that would be of interest? We’re UK based, have a 1Tb link and no transfer limits so little in the way of bandwidth issues. Managing & backing up one extra site won’t be a noticable burden.

No desire to muscle in, just offering to help. Let me know if that might be of any assistance to you all.

    Hi Trevor,

Sorry if we’re a bit late to the party but we’ve only just became Zoe owners and joined.

My employer hosts a number of wordpress sites and those still hosted on Windows run really poorly, slow load times etc.. Move the exact same sites to linux and the sluggish wordpress instances suddenly fly along.

After a temporary improvement I have seen slowdowns with the forum again (in some cases enough to halt it completely). It has been revised again this week, including having 2300 spam users deleted and a cache installed, so I hope things are now on the mend.

toddisadj – thanks for your offer. However, the site is moving somewhat in a commercial direction (certainly in terms of connecting to FuelIncluded.com) so I don’t think we can take you up on it. Nonetheless, if it slows again we will look for another host.

    Hi Trevor,
This is the first time I’ve got past the front page and into the forum for well over a week.
Congrats and hope it can continue.

    Sadly, still getting timeouts etc.

Finger crossed things are fixed! Between myself and the ISP we have reduced page loads from about 20 seconds to about 2. Please let me know if you see any more slowdowns. Thanks, Trevor.

A couple of days after I posted above I saw the issues come back. I have therefore had the whole site and forum moved to a different server. I can no longer see any problems myself, and the site and forum are loading much faster. I’d appreciate it if you could give me your feedback and confirm this is true for you before I can be sure it is all fixed, thanks.

    Hi Trevor,
Yeah the forum had been missing for best part of a week, it now loads instantly for me, so good work 🙂

I’ve had an issue reported with new members not getting sent a login email. I believe that’s now fixed, so if you’ve had a problem please try registering again.
