I’m Emile, gadget freak, science fan, EV lover and a pilot. Live in the Netherlands (Almere) and my Zoé reservation (for a black Intense 16″ rims) is number 105. Currently own a Prius (2nd gen), an electric foldable bicycle and a Honda ST1300A Pan European motorcycle.

My personal reasons to get a Zoé are several. I tend to be an early adapter and have followed the EV revolution unfold since the movie “Who killed the electric car”. I also see the huge scientific body of evidence indicating the damage we are doing due to our oil addiction / dependence. And I just love the technical design of an EV compared to an oil burner. No heat, no vibrations, no noise, instant torque, no gears, just one moving part, reliable, no maintenance, super efficient. It just makes a piston engine look like a steam machine.

On top of that the Zoé has great looks, is very practical being designed as an EV from the start, has cool software features and can grow with battery evolution without write off risks due to the lease construction. It’s one great car to show skeptics that the future is already here and it’s looking bright!

Hope to learn all the ins and outs of the Zoé here, great site so far.

    Hello, Andrew here.

Debbie and I are American expats living in North Wales.  I’m a research technician and a sometime electronics hobbyist.

We are both dog nuts.  Our present pack is a labradoodle puppy and senior great dane.

I’ve been following Renault’s EV venture since 2009.   I’ve been especially interested in the Kangoo Z.E.   I occasionally  blog about Renault Z.E. and EVs in general at Batvan Blog.

I’m #313 on the UK Zoe reservation list.

    Welcome, guys.
Emile – you’ve written a pretty good summary there for the Zoe. I just hope it lives up to all our expectations! My biggest concern is that it will turn out to have the same battery issues as the Leaf, though as you say it’s less of a worry when the battery is leased.

I’m wondering what battery issues you refer to, but that will fit better in another forum.

I just hope that Renault + electronics + first model + microsoft will work. I’m hoping / guessing they will really try to make this model work as it is the flagship of the coming generation of cars. They have a lot riding on this model, so they really can’t afford it to be unreliable.

    Hi All,

My name is Bob, I live in Ardrossan, North Ayrshire in Scotland, just south west of Glasgow.  I have pre-reservation in the UK no.5, ordered my Zoe on the evening of the day it was released, and have followed it since concept although not seriously until 2010/11.Have been annoying the heck out of the local dealer, thankfully they seem to be getting interested in the EV now!

I travel about 60 mile round trip to my work in Glasgow with a mix of B and A Class roads for half the journey and the other half is motorway. The reason I want the Zoe is because of it’s range and being able to carry out my journey without charging at work, it looks great and is extremely comfortable, the technology in the car looks as if it could benefit us all even if expanded to ‘ice’ cars.

I am also now car less after ending my previous pcp deal, chose to return the car and spend, hopefully, only a few months without a car!

I was also lucky enough to get to see the Zoe in Paris earlier this year with What Car? magazine, the video review is online in YouTube(I’m the Scottish one) we didn’t get to drive the car, but we got to see it in the ‘flesh’ and explore it.

Only disappointment I have with the Zoe is that they are not doing the Diamante run wheels for either the 15/16″ wheels which of course have the special tyres, the special fantastic looking wheel is only available in the 17″ rims, really disappointing.

Not likely.   Twizy has a recall for brakes.

    Hello Mervyn here

I live in Ipswich which is in the county of Suffolk. I currently run an older Toyota Yaris diesel and my wife has a year old Mini Cooper diesel.

I have ordered my Black Zoe Intens but currently do not have a factory number, with the first one now been delivered I hope the April/May delivery will be on target.

We have solar panels on our roof so I hope to take advantage of some free daytime electric which will reduce the running costs. My last last electric vehicle was the Sinclair C5 which I had for over 20 years, obviously the range was not as good as the Zoe!

Am so looking forward to the revolution which I am sure will gather momentum next year.

    Yes – see Leaf thread.

I’m curious – what was the date? I got #172 on 1 May.

True, but there are other alloy wheels available as Zoe accessories from Renault – I’ll dig out the details if you’re interested.

    Hi Trevor,

I pre-reserved mine’s in March 2012, i’ve backed this up with another order at a dealer, however, now gone through two salesmen there so not sure what will happen now, no one in the dealer is interested now!! No idea also what will happen with the pre-reservations, will Renault HQ call us all to find out what we want? I have no idea and no-one seems to know either, although beginning to lose faith in my local dealer.

I really liked the Diamante Run wheels as was on the Zoe Preview and alot of the pics, but of course these are only in the 17″ rims which the Michelin EV tyres don’t fit, think i’ll stick with the 15″ rims and go for the economy!

Hopefully more details coming out soon in the New Year now that the Clio is about ready to go live.
