    Further to that Trevor, I went into my Renault dealer today – to look at upgrading to the new longer range Zoe – to find them telling me that there will be no more imports of Zoe’s until around June next year. The reason? Apparently the French Government have ordered 25,000 Zoe’s and that has priority.
    So I’ll put my name down and then wait.
    You couldn’t make it up.

    Just had my 3rd annual service (Zoe just celebrating her 4th birthday) and MOT. Once again, nothing needed doing and passed MOT. Now on 28,000 miles. And still 40% wear left on original brake pads. So, taking stock, before I sign up for a R40 (not to be got before June – see other post):-
    Car has never let me down. Always moved when I’ve pressed the throttle, ditto stopped when brakes applied. No rattles or squeaks – not even from the tailgate which has caused some forum members grief so I gather. Two glitches during the past 4 years: Air con failure through a broken/fractured pipe/join (common to several Zoes if you read a certain car mag report which is why the Leaf has higher owner satisfaction); and broken drivers door spring (it creaked and cracked when being opened/closed.) Both done under warranty so no cost but still. It shouldn’t happen. I would hope quality control at HQ works on dealer feedback. After all – it’s in their interests financially.
    But despite those hiccups, I still love the thing. And the immediate acceleration when needed – eg, at some of Sheffield’s roundabouts where, if you don’t go when there’s the smallest gap, you can wait till doomsday. And the silence. And, for a 6ft 2in bloke, a very comfy driver’s seat.
    Tethered charger’s been on our outside wall for 4 years also and always worked faultlessly.
    Irritations? Only one. Too easy to accidentally press the ‘open charge cap’ button on fob as you’re getting into car. Even today I’ve switched on the motor, buckled up, dealt with lights and wipers etc – THEN discover the cap is open.
    I know. Minor, but maybe a less omni-directional signal would be useful.
    Finally, while our other car is an ICE – a very well put together SEAT – I still feel that, these days, when I drive it, I’m slumming it. Petrol cars seem somehow ancient – already receding into history.

    Why do you use the key to get into the car instead of the button on the door handles?NFC.

    Hi reboot. The answer is that I don’t use the key. I press the key fob when approaching the car, then open the now unlocked door in the normal way. The button on the door handle is then pressed as with any other car. My point was that the ‘open charge cap’ button on the fob is too easily pressed accidentally when stuffing the fob back in my pocket or dropping it in the centre oddments well.
    As I said, it is only a minor irritation and doesn’t detract from the overall positive impression of the Zoe.
