I think I put just over 1 turn of tape which was just enough to stop the noise and not prevent the tailgate from shutting. The noise the catch made was a very low frequency rattle/jiggle which I could only hear really when going low speed over things like cobbled speed bumps. More noticable if I took out the parcel shelf.
@harters can you tell me exactly where the weld was that was faulty please? Mines doing the exact same thing, and I’ve gone through the whole removal of panels ect lol ! If its possible to take a photo of the area it would be great
Sorry I havent got any photographs. I couldnt even manage to get the rear pillar trim off as I thought I was going to break something.
All I was told is, it was a joint where two panels meet at the rear of the roof 3/4 pillar area. Without my video I don’t think they would of sorted it as they had several attempts before. Once they had the vidoe and Renault France got involved it was sorted in one go 🙂
I don’t think its anything you are able to repair yourself unless unless you are a whizz with a welder 😉 I am still amazed how they maanged to do it without causing any kind of heat damage to the paint work.
So popped into the dealer and took the tech out in the car! His first thought was it is the boot latch. So, back we go to cake it in grease, and , click click click………….see I told you it wasn’t the boot latch say I! The car is now booked in for two days, a week Monday. Hopefully they will make contact with harters dealer for some help, but in the mean time I shall have to try and ignore it lol
