I hope I won’t regret this, but visited Bristol today to test drive a Zoe and ended up agreeing to a 2 year PCP deal that is so cheap I’d be stupid not to. The monthly cost including battery is less than I’m currently losing each month on my Auris Hybrid which I own outright!
PCP and not owning a car is a completely foreign idea to me, but having done the maths it seems like a no-brainer!
I am certain tech will improve in the next 2 years, so I won’t be stuck with something that is no longer current and selling it won’t be my problem either.
I have an issue with the charger as I can’t have one fitted in the garage without major works on the underground cabling, but am negotiating on an occasional charger that will run just fine and will also mean I can take it out and about as to be honest there aren’t many fixed point chargers around here – well, not many as in

NONE
in my home town!
Now…I wait! Some time end of this month / early June all being well.
May 14, 2015 at 17:10 #17631My wife signed up for a Zoe today in Gloucester and the dealer honoured the 20% off Zoe accessories advert on the web site for the occasional charge “granny” cable.
As I understand it, if BG can’t fit a 7 kw charge point they can fit a 3 kw charge point.
Obviously slower, but if it meets your needs it will save you a lot of mess and expense installing a new cable.
My cables is 6 mm2 csa rated at 34A on a 40A RCD trip so I’m hoping to get away with 7 kw.Fred
May 14, 2015 at 17:10 #17632Congratulations AJ.
The current deals are amazing, so it’s not surprising you’ve done the maths and found it a no-brainier.
Just out of curiosity, what’s your home town that has no public charging?

It’s nowhere near up to regs and won’t come close, so I’d rather sort something myself that I know is safe – like a dedicated socket for a granny cable – or even cut the plug off and put granny cable on a fuse spur which would be even safer.
Out of interest, how much did you get the granny cable for? My dealer hasn’t given me a price yet as he has to speak to his manager tomorrow.

Weston-super-Mare. BS22.
I have found one charge point listed at The Royal Hotel, but it’s not public and a few on Polar on people’s driveways, but actually locating them seems impossible – but there are no public charge points, not even at the supermarkets!
May 14, 2015 at 17:29 #17641Email your councillors. I’d say a council for a town with a tourist economy ought to be thinking of it to attract visitors, if they have any sense!
May 14, 2015 at 17:31 #17642Me too
Saw the 69 pounds deal, went to my local dealer on Monday and got a 7000 miles per year PCP for 72 quid per month plus 70 for the battery.
I reckon the PCP will be more than covered by the savings on diesel. Then with luck I can charge using power from my solar panels too. Double result.
Also, just this morning I received the email from British Gas and this afternoon they have called to confirm an installation date of next Wednesday. Result again!
Now just have to wait 3 more weeks for the car to arrive.
In the meantime I’ll be reading this forum closely for help, hints and tips.
Shame there are very few public power points in North Devon…………..at the moment

They have no sense. They don’t do things for the good of the public here, they’re on the gravy train for the ride! It get me mad often that the Councillors on the town Council don’t even live in the Town. Let’s not go down that slippery political slope though. Bad for the blood pressure!
May 14, 2015 at 17:41 #17645@qprfan You ordered your car on Monday and you have received your email from British Gas already?
I placed my order on Saturday, so I guess it would of not got to Renault until Monday, but I haven’t heard anything yet 🙁
Maybe I will hear tomorrow?
May 14, 2015 at 18:58 #17649QPRfan you got family working at BG? Harters Don’t hold your breath.
I placed a deposit on a ex demo on the 3rd May, got the email on the 7TH phoned BG same day as the details link would not accept the order No dealer supplied.
Contacted dealer to fwd copy of order then sat back until today.
Phoned BG again today, only to be told they had no docs from dealer !!
Back on phone to dealer with email address from BG for them to scan and send copy of docs again. -
