As a UK electric car early adopter I am naturally interested in how well EVs are doing in the market. There doesn’t seem to be a definitive source of
[See the full post at: UK Electric Car Sales]April 21, 2014 at 08:45 #8344I wish I had a source for these numbers in Belgium. Maybe I should look in to that
April 21, 2014 at 10:46 #8345As an overview of sales in general I highly recommend EV Sales. It was started by Jose Pontes just after I started this site:

September 3, 2014 at 21:25 #9742May 30, 2015 at 07:12 #18786As I enter my final year of the lease,I view with interest the discussion on the possible UK Gov removal of the EV grant when sales reach 50k.No way would I consider another EV purchase if it was not grant aided. They have removed the Solar subsidy after many signed up,I wouldn’t put it past them, watch that space. A Ukip MLA in my area recently said the whole Ecar project should be scrapped,as the charge points are not being used.New technology, same old people? Its been a 2 year battle with Renault, their ignoring of the BCI problem and the power companies, charge point manufactures and councils do not want to know the particular problems relating to the Renault Zoe. I detect a growing hostility with Leaf owners towards Zoe owners on various sites, and of course Ice owners continue to block the EV bays with wanton impunity,as recently with the Irish Open Golf in Newcastle. One CP was even blocked by a Mitsubishi plug in hybrid Not plugged in!
May 30, 2015 at 10:20 #18794Gosh Reebot – the voice of doom + gloom and negativity! I can’t say I share your paranoia.
The government aren’t threatening to remove the grant…they ‘will’ remove the grant. It is simply to help the uptake of new technology so knowing that, you have a choice what you want to do about it. It is not a forever grant.
Yes many charging points are not being used…and? How do you know Renault are ‘ignoring’ the BCI problem? I personally have found charge point manufacturer (eg. Polar) aware, receptive and proactive in terms of the particular problems in relation to Zoe. I’m not sure which problem you refer to re councils.
I haven’t experienced anything but friendly Leaf owners so don’t share your ‘them + us’ mentality nor do I feel ICE drivers ‘continue to block’ in a conscious deliberate way…I think they are largely unaware and my experience is that ICE drivers are v. interested in EVs. Don’t forget …we were once all…and many of us still are ICE drivers as well as EV drivers.
