New Delay for Renault Zoe

It is reported in Les Echos that the launch of the Zoe has slipped again. This week the Renault group is quoted as saying that the launch will be:

“mass market in spring 2013” in France, which will be later expanded to other countries in Europe “during the second half of the year”

However, when Renault opened bookings of the vehicle last March at the Geneva Motor Show, it first talked about:

“the fall of 2012” before discussing “the end of 2012” then “early 2013”

The reason for the discrepancy is given as the difficult development of the R-Link multimedia system. According to a source close to Renault, ‘the group did not take the right technical options to be economic and is now paying for it with a less than optimal solution’.

Well it depends on how many that have been ordered so far as well as when those deliveries started.

Also not sure WHO got those cars, were they for consumers, or for showrooms? So wish Renault could respond to us that have booked, after all we were supposed to get news first…

I got some news today and yesterday from Renault Zoe on FaceBook.

    1. It seems that there are 1000 ZOEs for French customers end of March

    2. Other countries, like Spain, have received their first ZOEs today (for show rooms or for training), customer deliveries are expected in May.

Since I ordered mine I have not heard a beep from Renault nor any reseller, the money has been taken from my account though… Anyone heard anything? Anyone asked to confirm the specs or pay more money?

I’ve heard nothing personally, no confirmation of specs or payment of more money.

It’s good news about the deliveries, though. I was starting to wonder if they would every happen!

I recently contact Renault UK customer service to ask about the delays.

After three weeks they could not find any information from Renault France about the delivery to the UK except the general statement “Summer 2013”.

I find this very disappointing that Renault UK are not informed of what is going on!

Noticed this remark a few days ago in the Renault ZE facebook comments from Renault ZE:
Renault ZE @Massimiliano: we can’t blame you for that! ZOE is on its way: already launched in France and mass deliveries will start in Spring there and will follow elsewhere in Europe in the second quarter of 2013

[Nosig – I found this post from 2 February, sorry it seemed to have got lost in the system]

2000 ZOEs have been sold in France so far, but no information about the other countries.

This is the first time I buy a brand new car from a pre-booking, normally how long time before they start making “my ZOE” would they need to know the color and other specs?

Have spoken to Renault UK they have told me Zoe deliveries to the UK will start on 6th June. Is this just another date pulled out of thin air, we’ll see!

6th of June is still within Q2… but much later than Spain. It sure would be nice to have it before the summer starts and the kids get off school.

Just tried the reservation link on the Renault ZE website and got this

    ERROR
    404

THE PAGE YOU ARE SEARCHING FOR DOESN’T EXIST ANYMORE.
YOU CAN GO BACK TO THE HOMEPAGE BY CLICKING HERE.

Buzzar – I’d heard that might happen, and that it’s a good sign. It means that ‘real’ ordering is open (i.e. you just go to a dealer and order a Zoe) so reservation is no longer required.
