Stingy Leaf driver who was too tight to buy the DC fast charger?
Knew he’d bought the wrong car and didn’t want /that/ conversation with a ZOE owner?
Had to dash to the bog with IBS brought on by being a hard core lentil eating tree-hugging vegan?

Think this will get worse, especially if the rumors are true about the 44kwh batteries being available soon and everyone is taking twice as long to get charged up.

Good to know the Zoe battery has hidden depths – I bottled out when I was 2 miles short last weekend and stop to charge back up.

So this manufacturer revolution is just to whack in a bigger battery pack. well if Renault and Nissan have any sense they’ll offer it as an upgrade to existing owners first.

I like the idea of a real range of close to 200miles but its mot a deal breaker when you’ve ran your zoe to the frantically flashing red battery light and zero range and survived it lol.

I was reading an article on LesEchos.fr website (English translation) and it was talking about the new Zoe batteries being doubles up to 44kwh.
Apparently Renault are considering a buy back or take over offer for the first gen Zoe to get you to buy the new longer range ones, and using the first gen to feed the second hand market with the significantly cheaper first gens.
Nissan leaf already has a 48kwh prototype running around (check out the article on cleantechina for more info), although they did have to remove the back seats to get another battery pack in, not very practical but then it is only a prototype.
Btw they are talking about around 2017 for the new Zoe which will make for an interesting year for ev, with the new bolt and the cheaper Tesla coming to market around the same time.

Previously I was unable to do two days of commuting (6 from rapid charger + 32 commute + 32 commute + 6 back to rapid charger = 76), but with my new-fangled 90+ range now, I’ve done two commutes and still have 32 miles left (easily enough for the 16 home and a trip to the rapid charger) =)

I can only assume it’s the temperature that’s done it (not due to heating; but battery temp).. Although it’s still just as cold in the morning; my guess is that it hasn’t been as cold overnight, so the batteries haven’t been getting quite so hold.

My car is currently being repaired and I have been doing exactly that, haha! You don’t even need to remember the battery percentage or mileage, you can see when the car was last started on the app as well. My garage moves it every morning into the workshop and then out in the evening. Now if only there was a hack app to spy through the rear-view camera or something…

You don’t need to update your app. Just remember the battery percentage and estimated mileage when you drop your car off. If they drop, you know they have moved your car or at the very least had it turned on for a while.

I must admit to doing this when my car was recently in the garage. It’s a bit like a tracker that doesn’t actually tell you where it is.

My maths was trying to say that if I had driven along a straight bit of road at that speed with no junctions for the same distance I think I would probably have used 0.5kwh. Which means that the other 0.4kwh consumed must have been used repeatedly accelerating the car. The car reported 0.3kwh of regeneration, the regeneration only comes from the kinetic energy. The other energy is lost to wind resistance, rolling resistance and energy consumption of the cars systems. The efficiency of regen issue is how good is the regenerative braking system at converting this kinetic energy back into electricity and the battery at absorbing this energy. So in this case it’s approximately 0.4/0.3 = 75%. Any calculation like this is always going to be rough and ready. There are just too many variables to get an accurate figure. The true figure could be higher or lower but I doubt that it is as low as 30%.

I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that Although it’s an 88bhp rated motor that Renault are not using all the horses.

Feels 80 or more up to 30mph but they’ve definitely done something to power after that speed, it tails off too quick, and then comes back again at about 70mph.

It’s probably to save battery but would be nice if they released a firmware update that let you use all of the power, maybe hide it in a setting in R-link.
