We all have to remember we loos 20% straight after putting your foot down from dealer and driving away. £2k+ lost gone forever stupid VAT..
It my first time PCP after so many years of loosing 8-10-14k on cars after two years.
Here is one for you I bought a brand new Motorhome in 2009 after my mum passed away as she said enjoy yourself but on with the money I leave you so I did. 18 months later after paying £42k I got £26k back loosing a lot of dollar.
Now having a PCP putting £129 deposit down and in 4 years with battery lease I will have paid £10k which is what I have just lost on my 2 year old Mokka so all in all not a bad deal. But in 4 years I will change again there will be better battery tech out.
Go and sit in a tesla garage or Nissan and see what real you get there trust me the Zoe wins hands down I have been there and asked.
Buying 2nd hand is a massive risk with like any second hand car with warranty etc what happens when something goes wrong with like the dash display or something not covered and being new tech what will it cost.
I used to by second hand and to be honest I probably won’t again high risk in the failure department at a cost to me is my worry.

Renault’s tweet doesn’t say they won’t turn off battery if lease isn’t paid , just that they haven’t yet
That is not what it says at all. There is no mention about what they have/haven’t done; it’s their policy.
In any case, turning your car off doesn’t get them the battery back. The lawsuits from turning your car off when you might be stuck at away from home, or with a sick child, or on the hard shoulder, etc. would not be worth it. Renault are not completely stupid.

Renault’s tweet doesn’t say they won’t turn off battery if lease isn’t paid , just that they haven’t yet. It’s just like your phone or electric bill and they will disable it if you don’t paY.
They can’t “repo” a car that’s paid for – that would be stealing and I don’t think they will come round , jack car up and take the battery – especially when even dealers don’t have the necessary lifting equipment.
If you can’t afford your battery payments then you might just have to take the sim out 🙂March 6, 2015 at 17:17 #13530Sandy – I got a NEW Zoe Zen for £12.2k on pcp lease scheme + battery hire which inc metallic paint + 17″ alloys. Lower price due to a £2.75k manufacturer contribution and deals inc free servicing for 4 year period. So payments = £189pm + battery. I’m HAPPY with this.
March 6, 2015 at 13:18 #13518Ok, sorry Dr Steel. You’ve been scuppered by the Renault subsidy. But you didn’t actually lose £13k, which was my point, though you paid more for the car than I had assumed.
I was able to “buy” a car in December for £10,800 including the near mandatory metallic. Subsidies from gov and Renault still make it £12,800 I think.
From these numbers £7k after 18 months isn’t so bad, especially the first number.
Intens is £19,393 list or £15,195 OTR after PICG no extras with battery rental. If you buy with batteries it’s £20,043 OTR after PICG.
Great way to treat early adopters! Often the case though.

Watch how easy the battery is fitted.

We might see third parties reconditioning existing batteries – I would be very surprised if you popped open the battery to find that it wasn’t just filled with larger versions of the usual grey li-ion packs your see in mobile phones.

@buchanan101: I think they can disable the car if you don’t keep up payments.
Read the tweet I linked; they have already said they will not. There was a load of kerfuffle about this. Yes, technically they could probably do it; but would they? Unlikely. They’d reclaim the car in the normal way. Stopping you from driving the car doesn’t get them any closer to getting their money or battery back.
@drlea: As I suspected the new lease arrangements are only a “special offer” for Zoe’s bought since Dec 2014.
I got the impression this was a price reduction more than an offer; and expect it to remain for the future. However, people with existing contracts are unlikely to have theirs reduced, a contract is a contract.

The battery would have to be made specifically to fit our model of Zoe (electrically and mechanically). Lets hope Renault sell enough of the current model for it to be worthwhile for someone else to tool up to make a compatible battery.

Tesla plans to build a similar battery in 2020 for £1000. They also issue a warranty with it. If renault won’t allow me to purchase one by then, I’ll buy a tesla one and have them swap it over.
