Why would you want to do that?

    It reduces battery ageing.

Sounds like the terms of a fixed term rental contract, and so you’d be expected to start a new contract at its expiry. Surely you’ve not signed a contract to buy the battery, so the contract is for a rental term.

All I get for Fluence is a £77pm ‘rental’ statement.

Well we got our “Battery only” statement in june and the opening outstanding balance at 10/06/2013 was £4,201.70 with
a Closing outstanding balance at 09/06/2014 of 3,431.80.

On the second page of the statement it also offers a “settling your credit agreement early” option!

So what you are saying Trevor is that the monthly instalments that we pay to lease the battery are actually reducing a balance and once this balance is zero there will be no more monthly battery payments?

That’s exactly how it seems to be written, so the duration is 5000/monthly payment = 5 years for me. Someone on a high mileage tariff could pay off sooner. Has anyone else received an annual summary?

Hhmm, mine was valued a 6K. I wasn’t even aware that a point may come when you don’t have to pay for battery lease.

I wonder if they will still provide the free services like break down cover and battery maintenance.

The EV salesman valued a Zoe battery at £7100 which I asked for for insurance purposes. So it’s kinda weird you started with a balance of £5k.

We have all kicked around ideas about how the battery lease plan works – but I wonder if it’s much simpler than we thought. I’ve just had my first annual statement. It states very clearly that my account started with an outstanding balance of £5006.32. After a year of payments of £82.33 the outstanding balance is £4100.69. There are no other transactions (interest, deductions, etc.).

It looks like a very simple arrangement – essentially Hire Purchase – with the battery valued at £5k. After I’ve paid off the £5k in monthly payments the implication is that I will have nothing more to pay (though that doesn’t necessarily indicate that I then own the battery, just that I won’t be charged to use it).

    Hello.

Yes Renault Customer Services are dealing with it, I contacted them originally before I contacted the dealer and then they arranged for the car to be picked up and taken to the dealer.

What’s crazy is they have no parts for the car in stock anywhere and when a part finally arrives some plank has ordered the wrong bit which then puts us back to square one!

I will ask them about covering the battery lease as I have made 2 payments on that since the car has been gone. Currently they are also paying for the hire car but not the fuel, I keep asking if they can provide me with another electric vehicle but Renault customer services just keep saying they don’t have any!

How easy is it to open a case with the financial ombudsman?

“The car is on finance, does anyone know how I stand with this. Can I say the car isn’t fit for purpose or they have taken too long to fix it?”

We where in your situation last year and opened a case with the financial ombudsman and after lots of lies from Renault the FO decided in Renaults favour!

As for Renault customer services they should be called the Renault defence and denial force as they are less than useless.

After loosing our Zoe for 3 months and still having to pay for battery lease and a hire car (selling dealer had their loan car back after a week) Renault ZE Birmingham sort of fixed the problem with a software update to Zoe’s charge computer.

Try and stay friends with your ZE service dealer as Renault HQ and customer support do not care about you, really!

    Poolmarket,

Have you contacted Renault Customer Services? If they are aware of the situation then they have the option to pay you some monies to cover the battery lease payments and possible a little bit extra too. They have done this for a friend who has a Zoe and also for me when my car was at the dealer for 2 1/2 weeks. It may not cover your finance but it will help.
