There are lot of Type 2 charging stations in France as well. Not as much as Type 3, but the database is your friend.
BTW: it’s just the cable that comes with the Zoe that is different in France. The plug in the car is always the same.

Hello Umberto,
Thank you for the clarification. I subsequently looked at http://www.chargemap.fr and found there are a few type 2 charging stations over the border, although most are type 3.
I then looked at another charging station website: http://www.goelectricstations.com/description-connectors-for-electric-vehicle.html which says Scame represents the other European standard and is preferred by EVplugalliance because it has characteristics of protection against direct contact in excess of that of the competition. Implements the mode 3, therefore in AC, and is defined type 3, supports charging powers ranging from 3 to 22 kW and is installed in the charging stations and not on the vehicles.
Could this mean that you don’t need the French charging cable, as the cable is already attached to the station? I’ll ask Renault.
Thank you again,
Karen
No, this means, the connector in the charging station is a type 3 which requires a french charging cable with Typ 2 on the car side and type 3 on the charging station side.
Only 43kW charging stations have fixed cables on a regular base, the 22 kW and below mostly only have plugs.
