Renault have quietly updated their site with lots more information on the Zoe, including more detail on pricing.

    http://www.renault.co.uk/cars/model/zoe-…rging.aspx

The best bit? More details on the battery leasing, which says it could be as cheap as £45/month if you only do 4,500 miles a year. We don’t drive currently, so I can see our family fitting this pattern. A huge saving!

Annoyingly the battery pricing links 404s, and whilst you can click through to book a test drive there are no results showing up (presumably because there aren’t any Zoes in the UK yet).

I’m excited and encouraged that if the marketing machine is starting to roll forward, then we hopefully won’t experience any further delays.

    Yes there is…

The wife and I where invited to a presentation of the new Clio at Cannock Staffs in January and where able to try a Zoe Intense Zen RHD out for size after the Clio presentation.

Because of the Battery position under the seats it was very easy to slide into the seating, this a god send as I took a spinal injury some years ago and even though, I still had ample head room 4-5 inches and this with me at 6′ 2″ tall.

Wife had plenty of leg room behind my drivers seat and was very please with the amount of boot space that the Zoe has.

It was quite amusing that the 30 or so people present where herded around the new Clio for the presentation and even before the presentations ended people where migrating to surround the Zoe and we had difficultly trying the Zoe out for size because of the crowd! 🙂

I found the picture on the charging page extremely promising, it’s the elusive a granny cable! And it says its for the ZOE. Lets hope that it’s not some intern that putt up the wrong photo…

Trevor – thanks for the acknowledgement in the post. Happy to share this stuff!

I wouldn’t get your hopes up about the granny cable photo. A lot of the links are broken on the site, and I should imagine the people that adminster the web content management system are very far removed from the people making the decisions. The product team would have given marketing some images a long time ago, that’ll have been tagged with words like “charging”, and then someone will have picked them out of a library.

Last time I asked @RenaultZE on Twitter, they said still no announcements to make. Here’s hoping that changes! That said, I was looking into ranges on a map properly for the first time this weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised how far you can get on a full charge supplemented by a 80% charge.

Guys over on Leaftalk one of the regulars is a freelance journalist who was on the recent trip to test drive in Lisbon, the embargo on reporters(contrary to toher countries) for us is 6pm Thursday where on Leaftalk we’ve been told to stop speculating, so not sure if we’ll receive good news, well for the UK anyway. Of course we have no idea if this will happen or not.

As many of the posts on there have said with having no ability to charge from a domestic socket even in an emergency could stop alot of people from buying the Zoe, I’m hoping it’ll be a game changer enough to give them my Leaf, I’ve always loved the Zoe from day one, and the Leaf may just be a stop gap, we’ll see though.

Hopefully the lifting of the press embargo will coincide with orders opening. I’m looking forward to seeing what Robert Llewelyn has to say on his Fully Charged YouTube show. He implied on Twitter that he’ll be comparing the Zoe to the 2013 Leaf, which would be most interesting.

I would expect the press embargo lifting may coincide with orders opening, so all the attention is directly actionable. Fingers crossed!
