I recently found time to return to working on my ZOE Range Predictor Android app and have now finished it. A new feature is the option to select between metric (km) and imperial (mile) units.
The ZOE Range Predictor App is available to download and install from its new page on the Google Play website. It is intended to be compatible with virtually every Android smartphone or tablet as it has no specific hardware requirements (it’s just doing mathematical calculations). It has been tested on my Asus/Google Nexus 7 tablet, and on a range of emulated smartphones.
I have updated the app code to use the latest version of the ZOE Range Rule so its predictions are as accurate as I can make them. It is intended to give the maximum expected range achievable at a constant speed on a level road, based on data acquired by Nosig.
Later versions could be upgraded to take account of other factors if there is sufficient interest, such as:
- Use of heater/air conditioning
- Use of lights
- Type of wheels (i.e. EV and non-EV tyres)
- Road and journey types (urban, motorway, changes of gradient, etc.)
In the meantime any and all feedback on the app is appreciated, including:
- For your Android device, does it show up on Google Play?
- Does it install and display correctly (e.g. are all controls and labels visible and legible)?
- Does it work, using both types of units?
- Do the predictions seem to be reasonably accurate?
