In reply to: Battery Hire – Differing price on Renault site?
So, we have two copies of battery rental agreements now…
Mine (9k/year) states a charge of £7.50 per hundred miles additional charge.
Wife’s (750/quarter) states a charge of 30p per mile additional charge.
So, mine isn’t so bad! I presume it’s just the low rate one that is a ripoff.
However, there’s also a chance it just changed at some point, as there are other (non-range-related) differences, such as one agreement containing “telecoms device” where the other says “odometer”. Both agreements were printed today though; so I presume there are two agreements, and only one of them was updated with the new wording! It’s mine that says odometer; so maybe when they created the (new) quarterly contract, they “improved” the wording of some other bits too.
Still not sure why the website is different again; but 7.5p for mine is much better. We’ll check them periodically though, to try and avoid going over. Think we should be fine though 🙂

My Battery agreement was sign for at 15:30 and all done and they paid renault for at !6:30 it took one hour they are pulling a fast one. I would turn up and ask to see the car with its flat tyres incase there is something else wrong they are not saying, here is my email from my dealer on the day of collection.
Hi Craig
As promised please find attached the battery hire and car hire agreements for signature
If you could print sign and e-mail back the pages highlighted I can get the docs across to RCi to be paid out in advance of you arriving
I have highlighted the pages to be signed and e-mailed back. I have a handover at 4pm and so I need them back by then to upload on to Renault’s system for payout.
Any issues with the attached please let me know
Best regards

I think I noticed that the pcp deals have a mileage limit, I guess that excess is paid at end of contract. There is a separate excess on the battery agreement, basically get both to tie and and do math and you should be ok.
Only positive of my rubbish day is the clarity that the 10500 miles a year for 3 years is in fact 31500 over 3 years, RVI don’t care if your over or under one year to next so long as it’s 31500 max at the end of contract.

I spoke to Renault about the battery rental as I’m on the 750 miles a quarter tier.
I wanted to know how many miles I’d done so far – I didn’t think of using the A counter until the middle of Jan and so I know its abit out.
Apparently, the car talks to Renault in France and they, presumably if they remember, email over a spreadsheet from which Renault UK do the billing.
They should send something regardless of there being anything due.

Your pcp and battery hire are with RCI finance not the dealer and they can’t be expected to know all the ins and outs for various options. There will be an excess mileage charge for exceeding either agreement although the battery mileage limit can be changed.
Best err on the generous side for the PCP miles.
It seems very unlikely that RCI would track your mileage and send a bill over your usual monthly payment. In fact it’s unheard of.March 26, 2015 at 13:19 #14837In reply to: 18 hours and counting.
I have plenty of bargaining power. I paid a deposit and agreed and signed for a delivery date, sale of goods act is on my side… they have failed to deliver goods.
I’m now thinking feck it, I just won’t turn up today. And just phone tomorrow and speak to the manager.
But im still raging, I work in customer service, I might just go in armed with today’s list of lies and one that basis refuse to sign anything until I see the manager.
I’m just curious if the signing the battery hire does take 24hrs to process. If I read otherwise I’ll just walk out of garage, sign nowt and tell them if it’s ready on Tuesday I’ll sign, if not I’ll cancel. Frankly I’d rather take the bus than deal with crap like this, especially when the car is right there.

I guess i don’t understand the concept of battery hire? Why is the cost of the battery not lumped in to the cost of the car? I mean, i don’t rent the engine in the beemer separate to the rest of the car.
Battery is in the region of £5-6k. Many people are concerned about the battery (will the capacity drop quickly, what if new batteries come out, etc.) so the rental is a nice option. I don’t think either work out badly; though I like the extra peace of mind with the rental (if the battery destroys itself, I’m covered, and I get breakdown cover, even if I just run out of charge).

The battery lease has a clause about getting out after a certain period (18 months?); it’s been posted on here somewhere. Presumably this is to allow for reselling the car.
If taking the car back to the dealer; I suspect they will help you do this; as they’ll want to sell the car again with a new battery contract?

If you sell private the new owners takes over the battery lease (I know this as we initially looked to buy preowned).. No idea how this happens!

I’ve said I’ll only sign the battery agreement to speed things up. But I’ll ask about my right to cancel if they don’t deliver before Tuesday.
If they don’t play ball I’ll be cancelling the purchase. And I won’t be buying a Zoe elsewhere. Sad to say. Can’t be doing with customer care this bad, it’s a sector I work in and this has been a disgrace.
