I’ve not heard complaints about the heater on the leaf, the closest competition. For me it’s also a range thing, It seems mad to have to have the temperature set higher than it really needs to be to stop your hands being cooled and wasting all of that battery power. It’s a lovely car but there are things that could be done better. It’s a current model so you would think that it would be in Renault’s interest to improve it.
As with all technology you have to get the fixes rectified as soon as possible once the model is released. Before you know it the team that worked on the car will have moved onto the next model and then it gets far more expensive to repair as the new person tasked to fix it has to un-pick the design to understand that. They can then work out how they are going to fix it. Look at mobile phones, you only get updates for a few months then they dry up.
So I signed my documents on the 8th November and was told I was way over the cut-off point. dallybally – you should be able to get yourself a new contract….just contact battery contract people in EV Team at Renault Customer Care.
..and depreciation, or in the case of most of us with the Zoe, the cost of the PCP and battery hire as those cost more with additional miles. And tyre wear, and brake pad wear (though minimal) etc.
To think it’s 45p/mile pure profit isn’t quite right.
I hope the taxman doesn’t get wise: 200 miles plus bringing in up to £300 isn’t 45p a mile! 200 miles is £90..
What mileage is your contract for? I know the car is only 5p/mile for every mile above contract but not sure how the battery works out for excess miles. and the PCP deal isn’t free anyway.
(Even if you pay for electricity, on Economy 7 it’s still only 1.5p/mile…)
But getting 45p/mile for business mileage still leaves you a fair bit in the black.
I see you use several times kW/100km, and when you talk about the energy in the battery you say 22kW.
I think you mean kWh/100km and 22kWh.
This mistake is made very often in articles, but it really means something different.
Power (P) has unit W or kW.
Energy (E) has unit Wh or kWh.
So after a year and a half, and 28,000 miles, my Zoe has today decided to play dead, and won’t even unlock. I got in using the backup metal key and nothing turns on, completely dead. First problem I ever had with it. Of course being a Sunday, it can’t be looked at today and is being picked up tomorrow am. Z.E. Assistance were very friendly and checked local dealers for opening times. I think it is going to Westover in Wallisdown, Poole where I purchased it from.
I’m assuming it’s a dead 12V battery, but it has far too much going on around the connectors (including 7 red cables), and with all the mentions of ‘categorically do not’ in the manual I have decided against doing anything myself.
Will update you all on how it goes.
13000 miles.
Front left tire – tread too low. But this may have also been due to slamming on brakes to avoid hitting a deer. It didn’t work. Still hit deer. So have have other bits replaced!
Also had an issue with the charger in the car (NOT the battery). Unsure of the exact problem but I ran my car down to near 0% on the way home in December. It was VERY cold (minus 5). Since then the car stopped charging via calendar and then full stop. Renault replaced the bits.
Rest of the car like new 🙂
If they are going to lease the battery, you could question if it matters? So long as they’ve followed the instructions in the manual it would be up to renault if the battery drops below 75%?
Thanks for clearing that one up for me chaps. I think I’ll stick with leasing the battery when the time eventually arrives.
Hello all,
I am planning on taking my Zoe from Ireland to Holland in June. I am doing some planning for the route and was wondering. Assuming no new charging stations go live between Holyhead and Chester Services would I be able to drive from Holyhead to Hull in 8 hours in a Zoe? I will be arriving with a full battery in Holyhead and be driving a steady 55 – 60mph. I would, to my estimate, require 4 charges before reaching Hull.
Ecotricity is saying there will a few rapid chargers between Holyhead and Chester by June but I am not counting on this. So far I plan a 7kW charge in Abergele (Nissan dealer) and rapid charges in Chester Services (M56), Heywood Services (M62) and Ferrybridge Services (M62).
Sound plausible?
