Yes it does sound like a fault and may be draining your 12v battery. My car dash camera is hard wired to the car. It is activated and deactivated with the car. When the car wakes up so does my car dash and after a few mins of the car locking …the camera goes to sleep. That is what is supposed to happen. It sounds as though your radio is still obtaining power from somewhere.
Hi all, I have just purchased a Zoe, I love the car. I have a couple of question that I’m hoping you may answer. I commute to work, a 50 mile round trip and mainly flat roads. I stick to about 57mph on the fast roads and get a good score on the efficiency rating (96). but I only get a max of 3.7 m/kwh. I noticed that some of you get 4 >5 m/kwh which would be impossible apart from driving down a very steep hill both ways! Is there a fault with my battery?
Also I’m currently waiting on the charging station installation and use the 13amp plug charger. Is it ok to use this charger on a daily basis?
I’ve not had this problem myself it all goes to sleep once I open the drivers door. Does it respond to the power button next to the display? Does the dash board go dark when you open the drivers door?
Having asked the questions it still sounds like a fault. I’ve read on the forum recently of someone forcing a hard reset of the R-link system by disconnecting the positive lead from the 12 volt battery for a short while. The down side appears to be that the sat-nav will loose its stored data. It might be worth giving it a go, alternatively take the car back to Renault as it’s still under warranty. You might be able to do the same thing by pulling a fuse out but I’ve not seen anything that tells you which fuse is which, it might be a question for Renault. It shouldn’t be a secret.
The battery on his phone went before the car did. He didn’t actually get to film the moment it stopped. I am not about to volunteer it for my own videos but the lowest I got it was 5%.
This was a while back and I have since done it again. No estimated range left and all the bells and whistles. My wife was a bit concerned but we were less than a mile from 2 22kW chargers so I knew we’d be fine. I then found that one managed to charge the car from 5% to 98% in 1 hour! Fastest I have seen it in Ireland ever!
Thanks, that was very interesting – admittingly I skipped to the last 10 minutes where he drove it until it stopped and it looks like (assuming he started filming when the battery started flashing) that he squeezed another 13 miles out of it.
When I got home this evening, the low battery light was on and it was down to 12% and a range of 6 miles.
So I drove it around the block a few times to see what would happen next, and when it dropped to 6% – which was after about 3 miles, lights started flashing and things began beeping.
Yes, I know I could have read the manual, but this was more fun 🙂
Unfortunately, my 18 year old had refused to be volunteered to be my manual propulsion system (and push it) when it did stop, so I don’t know how much further it would have gone on for.
I put a deposit down on the 21/11, but didn’t sign any agreements until the 16/12.
However, just checked my agreement, and I am on the 25 quid a month 750 miles a quarter tariff.
When we went through the figures, the dealer did mention that the battery rental had dropped, but I can’t remember if that was in back in November or when I picked it up on the 16th.
Thanks Donald – I will certainly be going back to my dealer to ask some questions and we signed up in Nov (before Rowley). Who knows …the battery company may consider signing up to a new contract. But these questions need to be asked.
By the way Rowley – I wouldn’t go in heavy-handed to begin with. I would ask questions and make noises and tell them what you want.
