Hi Timbo,
Good reviews thanks.I ordered my Zoe after loaning one from my dealer in Norwich for all of Saturday. We did 64miles, had 19 left, even after using the aircon for 0.9kwh.
For my family and the role it will play (replacing our Fiat 500) it stacked up on paper. Should save us £40-60/month n petrol costs. The equipment and the fact it is auto, were also key contributors.
The actual drive itself was way beyond expectations, smoother, faster, just better all round than any internal combustion cars at this monthly cost.
As an engineer, please help me with the whole ‘range anxiety’ thing? My wife says I’m too relaxed about stuff although, if the car says it has 80 miles in it, if you drive quite economically, it’ll do 80 miles + whatever Renault build into the range-o-meter as a safety margin.
Forgive me, as my car hasn’t arrived yet (Dec they reckon), is there something I’m missing or are you worrying too much, or is there some hidden problem with the range indicator?
Regards
Will
August 26, 2015 at 23:57 #22618The range indicator in Zoe is very good Will, and so much better than the leafs (which is affectionately known as the guessometer by leaf drivers).
Basically it uses data on your most recent usage to predict your range and then constantly updates. This means that you’ll never be caught out if you keep half an eye on it. Just don’t expect it to be spot on with the estimate that it first gives you after a reset.
Personally after a full charge I generally reset mine so that I can also see how many kWh I’ve used. I know there’s 22 available, and that of I need to I can generally her 5 miles per kWh, so this offers some comfort when I’m stretching it a bit.
I’ve never run out yet…August 27, 2015 at 07:17 #22619The 80% charge thing is a myth. The zoe will rapid up to 95%.
August 27, 2015 at 14:46 #22629Mine too
It’s not a myth though, it’s true for Leaf owners. 80% is where they start to change very slowly, 6kw or less.Zoe charges hard all the way to 95% before slowing a bit down to 99% then taking another hour+ to 100%.
With the 43kw Q210 Zoe you cancel rapid motorway stops every 75-ish miles for about 25 mins and then carry on foe 75 again.
Also the Zoe doesn’t seem to have the hot battery issues of the passively cooled Leaf. So rapid charge long motorway trips hold little concern (other than meeting a broken rapid)
