No individual with Admiral but as I say it tripled over a year for no explicable reason. If there is an issue with documenting insurance aspects inc battery….you can send an email to your insurer outlining everything you understand as a record of events. That’s what I do if they can’t confirm something which they have said verbally.
Renault…as per usual…can’t even give me a quote again and I have no idea why.
October 27, 2015 at 16:29 #24005I was with RAC for my previous car so tried to stay with them, they said on phone they would supply docs then when I’d paid they said battery is covered but refused docs veryfying ,hence I binned them.
Admiral sent me an email confirming battery cover, with Low cost, Happy 🙂

October 28, 2015 at 10:00 #24012I was with Privilege last couple of years, I always quote on Compare the market, to get their cheapest prices then go through the whole process again directly with insurers, it always gets cheaper. So then I phoned them and they just accepted the online price and sort it out no probs.
I actually got my 74 year old father in law even cheaper insurance with another leading insurer about a week before and when I quoted myself on there it was about £300 lol
So its not just where you live and what kind of risk you are, its what the insurer seems like like for ages.
I’m also one of those lucky folk that always seems to have an accident on my policy, soon as it lapses after 5 years some other tool drives into me. But because they are always fender benders and not massive smashed I’m probably seen as a low cost risk because they have info on my previous claims.
November 9, 2015 at 18:32 #24286I was with Renault for the last 2 years and they have always been good.
Just had the renewal come through at almost £1200

AnonymousI have to give credit to Direct Line insurance. We have the insurance on our house and our other car with them, we’ve been with them for quite a few years and they seem to reward loyalty.
When it was time to set up insurance for my new Zoe, I went to CompareTheMarket.com, the cheapest quote they gave me was £290. Direct Line did it for £185, in part because we’re existing customers.
Whenever they send me a renewal notice which has gone up, I shop around and get a cheaper quote from somewhere else. Then I phone up Direct Line and say “I’ll leave because I have this cheaper quote”, they have (so far without fail) matched that quote in order to keep my custom, even if it means charging me £100s less than they’d said.
November 10, 2015 at 11:19 #24303Contacted Renault and they actually said “Oh, it’s an electric car? Yeah, this is the best price we can give, the rates have recently gone up”
So I went through ‘Electric Car Insurance’ and with the 10% Club discount, I now renewed at £405.
Seems that Renault (or Igo whatever they are called now) are no longer interested in insuring electric cars.

November 10, 2015 at 11:26 #24305yes I’ve failed to obtain a car quote via Renault insurance 2 years in a row which is bizarre seeing as they are selling and leading EV technology!
November 11, 2015 at 09:35 #24343Thanks Chris53 – You’ve just saved me £15!
Would have been £25 saving but I’d managed to save myself £10 by my own haggling before mentioning Car Club and so he applied the discount on the original quote.
Thanks
November 11, 2015 at 15:35 #24349@Indi Glad the club saved you some pennies maybe pop on once in awhile and do some chatting on there also 😉
