I was very pleased to find a score of 100% on the Trip Report after a 160 mile return journey in very cold weather. My first time getting that score. I was surprised as my average energy consumption was not that great, but I guess what this report is monitoring is more about technique than consumption. I found it quite interesting anyway. Anyone else hit that elusive figure for longer runs?

I’m not sure I ever have, though I don’t check it very often. Do you know what mpkwh you achieved on that trip?

Not me I get 98% regularly and sometimes 99%. But I now have a new challenge, well done. So what’s your secret? Not more than 40mph and very good anticipation?

As I mentioned in the wee video, the strange thing is that the mpkWh was around 4.1, much lower than I have achieved in the past. I have had over 5.5 mpkWh before. So, I think it was much more to do with how I was driving. I was also rather surprised to see how much energy I had recovered. I tried to coast and let the car pick up speed on downhills on the first leg of the journey. I did not drive faster than around 55mph, but most of my cruising on the dual carriageway was 50 mph. About 60 miles of the trip was on country roads.

On the way home, once on the dual carriageway, I did set the cruise and let the car do its thing. I am thinking I probably went almost the whole journey applying the brakes only a handful of times and that may be what tipped me over the edge.

Fascinating. I was anxious about this journey in a way I had not been before as many of the rapid chargers in Scotland have been taken offline, so I had no rapids available along the way. Hence why I drove very carefully. Turned out not to be a problem at all, even in the very cold weather.

Now I think the next charge with ECO off, nice and cosy in the cabin and in hooligan full throttle mode around the city. And I will knock the range back down to 80 miles!

That would describe my driving most of the time 🙂 And 80 miles it what I generally get at the moment. Still pretty darn good. I have a lot of hills in this area and twisty roads so not much time to regen/coast. On longer trips I tend to get a bit better if I get to drive on larger roads. Country roads here are a disaster. No way can you cruise/coast. Must work on getting better as my Eco score is mostly low 90s.

Very well done on the 100% score. I bet your kids were pleased. Are they screaming for a repeat of this now?
