    Thanks for the information.

Here is a little more information:

On Friday last I started with 100% charge, drove 64 miles using 13kWh and arrived with the car showing 42% remaining or 39 miles.

    At a 22kWh charger, I put in 10kWh in 1h23m (so at about 7kW/hour) – this cost £4

The car then said I was 82% with 67 miles remaining. (I know the miles remaining is never very accurate)

So the consensus is that because the battery still had 42% it would not charge at 22kWh ?

If this is true, I am wasting £4 on the 22kWh charger, I might as well go to Asda in Gosport and charge for 2 hours at 7kWh which is free with Polar.

With 43 kw chargers, the charging speed is slow if your battery is not close to empty.. When you start the charge with a battery SOC of arround 25% you should get the full 43kwh until arround 85%. at 95% the speed is down to arround 14Kwh. If you start the charge with 50-60% the car will charge much slower..

Also quick question, what sort of battery level are you charging from. If you were on 50% to start with you won’t get such a rapid charge. You really want the battery to be pretty low on charge i.e less than 20% to get the full effect of the rapid.

It’s quite noticeable when your not really low in charge.

On my trip to Crieff we stopped in Perth with 50+ish % battery and got about 5kw in 25mins, so pretty slow. A couple of days later in Perth again battery was about 30% and we got 10.5kw in 36mins.

It’s a big nerve janging having to run really low on charge to get the quickest charge, but it is worth it.

Shows what dealers know really doesn’t it, isn’t battery conditioning in the last few % of battery charge?

    Hello

My ZOE is currently with Renault because I have found recently that it is charging slower than expected at public chargers. For instance, at the Ecotricity 43KW charger on the M27 and the SSE 43KW in Fareham, I get about 22KW/h speed. From the 22KW SSE charger in Gosport I got 10KW in 1h23, so about 7KW/h.

I think the car might have been doing this for a long time, but I never really noticed. On Ecotricity at Winchester services it often took me 45 mins to charge about 50%.

This has become important to me now because the SSE charger costs £4 for 15 mins. I was hoping to get 10KWh-12KWh in that time which is enough to get me home !

Renault say they cannot find a fault with the charging, and that maybe it slow charged once or twice because of “battery conditioning”.

Has anybody else seen slower than expected charging – or had a fault like this repaired ?

Those prices look like a mix & match of new & old Zoe prices. I thought the Twizy battery was much smaller so logic would make you think it was much cheaper

Is Twizy battery rental the same price as the Zoe?

The 3,000 one is £45, but then as you go up it is cheaper with 9K being £57 and 15K only £85!

Unfortunately by using the 3K rental to £45 on a Twizy they have pretty much made our used one unsellable except at a ridiculously low price. As the battery is a lot less int he Twizy you could effectively purchase the battery for the equivalent of 5 years rentals.

Apparently not (I can’t believe I’ve bothered to look it up!)

    Here’s what the website says…

Price excludes mandatory battery hire from £45 per month, based on 4500 miles per year, 100 excess miles £3.75 including VAT. You will not own the battery.

… Alternatively it can be run on 86 AA size batteries 😉

On ICE cars a pre purchased Service plan is usually a very good idea, but now Renault have ended the £299 for 3 years offer, is it justified for a car that I plan to hand back on its 3rd birthday?

Is the 3rd year 12v battery replacement mandatory or will I be able to hand the car back a week early & avoid that?

Does anyone know how much the specific 12v battery is & if the service plan covers it?

Agreed, I’m not brave enough for regular planned trips away in the Zoe (not that I’ve even got it yet!!). Sorry our 1.0 Ecoboost Focus will have to continue that role.

It may appear a shame to restrict the Zoe to a commuter car, but with a 9000 mile pa PCP & battery limit the approx 13p excess mileage cost removes the cost advantage of taking the Zoe. Mixing & matching my 61 mile return commute 4 days a week & my wife’s 18 mile return trip with weekend local running will not leave much spare from our prearranged limit.

I admire all your long range journeys, but it won’t be a regular occurrence for us. Although I have my Ecotricity based routes to family in the West Midlands & Lincolnshire planned, but will have to see if it justifies a granny cable purchase.
