AnonymousThe government grant is available everywhere in England and Wales with, I believe, separate schemes for Scotland and NI. The scheme pays 75% of the cost of purchase and install of a single chargepoint (one per household, trevor says) whether or not you own or plan to own an electric vehicle. The charge point must be ‘data capable’ and so, in most cases, this means you need to have gprs coverage (mobile phone data).
If you would like additional charge points you can, of course, buy them yourself 🙂 If you don’t use grant money for the charge point it doesn’t need to be data-enabled and so will be significantly cheaper.
June 21, 2013 at 18:40 #3628@farblue I have also spoken to Adam at British Gas who booked me in for 5th August (Est Zoe delivery WC 12th August). He did offer me earlier but I couldn’t fit it in.
I fed back to Renault Leicester the error as they gave me the Polar/Chargemaster paperwork. I had booked it in for fitting to find out Chargemaster wanted to charge £75 in addition to the government grant/renault % to upgrade the fitting from a 16amp to 32amp. I said the Renault brochure stated a free 32amp charger which I could get for free. I cancelled and sent the paperwork off the official route.
Nice to know Renault Leicester have acted on my feedback.
July 12, 2013 at 21:13 #3902“I think the chap who called me last week was Adam – but I don’t get my ZOE until 29 July.”
Not having heard anything since, I rang a few times this week – the phone was never picked up until today, when I spoke to Adam again. Apparently my order has been marked as ‘declined’! Some sort of cock up at their end, apparently likely due to new staff. Anyway, Adam has promised to get it going again, as a priority case, and I should hear something by early next week. I am getting concerned as it’s only 2 weeks to go until delivery.
July 13, 2013 at 16:56 #3923Don’t worry Trevor had mine fitted day before delivery all worked well. They will go the extra mile once delivery date is in place.
July 13, 2013 at 19:13 #3925That’s good to hear!
July 16, 2013 at 13:39 #3962Other than a call to arrange I have had no confirmation of my Aug 5th fitting date.
Has anyone else had a letter or call to confirm this will happen or do British Gas just turn up on the arranged date?

AnonymousI had a call from BG to say I was on their Zoe list and to ask me to fill in the application. Then a couple of weeks later I had a call to arrange the install date and I’ve heard nothing since.
I’ll let you know on thursday if they just turn up as that’s my install date!
July 16, 2013 at 21:20 #3964I rang British Gas yesterday to chase the install – and the best the lady could offer was 9th August – about 2 weeks after the ZOE arrives! I pointed this out and she said they’d see what they could do. She called back today to offer me next Thursday (25th July) – which I was very happy to take. I understand I’ve been bumped up the queue ahead of someone who’s not getting their EV so soon (sorry if that was someone on this forum!). I don’t feel too guilty, though, as it was BG’s mess up.
I asked if there would be some sort of official notification (by letter, for example), but apparently not. As suggested above, it seems they just turn up.
July 16, 2013 at 22:39 #3969@farblue @Trevor thanks for the information, it puts my mind at ease a little. Just have to hope the install is straightforward and can be done on the day without any surprises.
July 17, 2013 at 16:57 #3978Have done a full charge today and the distance gage is showing 111 this is 20 more than the last full charge I done. I will endeavour to check this against actual mileage done to see how accurate this is. Needed a full charge as I have a round trip of 70 miles to the dealer and back tomorrow. Apparently there is a software update on R Link which perhaps should cure some odd things happening. I will post details of the upgrade to see if this has cured some of the bugs. Apart from these issues the car has performed beyond my expectations.
