Not having been on the site for a while I’ve just noticed the Zoe site has been updated and improved. There’s a bit more info, additional explanation on battery leasing and charging and a proper spec. comparison page.
Interestingly, Renault are really pushing 7Kw and higher charging, especially for public charge points. A number of times they mention chargers of between 7Kw and 22Kw as being ‘normal’ and giving a charge in 1 – 4 hours. They talk about 43Kw charging separately. They only mention 3Kw chargers when talking about the free chargers from BG for your friends and family. At one point they mention that the Zoe charger map knows which points are ‘Zoe compatible’ and the way it is worded suggests that 3Kw chargers won’t be shown.
Take a read of the ‘three ways to charge’ and ‘when and where to charge’ sections of this page for examples of what I mean:

@jit187 I’d be interested in how you get on and also for you to note if by updating you loose your previous visited charging point locations.
(Visiting dealer Tuesday to sign battery lease and online services. Have all but Polar card now, got my reg no., agreed a 9am pick up on Sunday 1st. Not long now!)
Nisan Leaf battery situation in USA.
I stumbled on to this forum thread which discusses about the battery wearing out and it is not a pleasant discussion –

Hope we wont face such a situation because the battery is hired and not owned as in the Leaf’s case scenario.
Trevor,
No reasons given. It just shows up as November delivery when the dealer checked it yesterday. But when he ordered it showed as september or october delivery.
Well, I think it might be even longer. So I kind of resigned to wait.
At present I travel 80miles/day.
Spend about 120.00 per week on petrol(around 500.00 per month).
Zoe reduces the cost significantly.
Total payment including the battery lease is 380.00 for 5 years Hire purchase. So I am saving about 100.00 a month and still get to own a new car.
So I shall wait.

ken
BYD e6 cars are said to do 180miles per charge. It is really depressing that we are struggling for 60miles !
e6 uses Iron-phopherous battries.
Hope someday Zoe might get that battery.
Presumably the ‘fuel cost’ should include the 10p per mile or whatever that Renault charges for the battery lease.
The i3 is first and foremost an BEV. The REx is just that – a range extender; as far as I can tell, you can’t fill up with petrol and then charge the battery and go places. I’m not expecting to use it much at all.
The hybrids are barely BEVs IMO; the 40 mile (IIRC) battery range of the Ampera would see the engine firing up every day for us.
Emma at Renault Leicester has told me it is the total milage over the 3 year contract, so you are correct. As long as you dont go over the total milage you should be fine.
i totaly understand that but i think its to do with the battery hire and monthly payments. at the moment i pay £70 per month based on annual mileage of 7500. i reckon renault are checking my mileage and if they think i will exceed 7500 they will increase my monthly payments but i think this is not fair becuase my contract is 3 years. so first year i might do 8500, year 2 i might do 6500 and year 3 do 7500, but overal all i kept to the agreed mileaage but i would have to pay extra over potentially 2.5 years…. if that makes sense…
As pioneers of owning EV’s and Renault being at the forefront of building them the information is vital to build better products in my opinion. Apple, Google and Microsoft have done this for years.
As for disabling the battery ‘stopping the charging of the vehicle’, it won’t suddenly cut out on the M1 (unless you run the power down to 0%). Petrol heads are reporting this as a negative to put people off. Go and fill up and fail to pay and see what happens (same thing, action would be taken).
If you have signed and agreed a lease and stop paying for whatever reason you no longer own that battery. Stop paying your mobile phone contact and you get cut off. Either way both are useless if you fail to pay. I would hope and are sure Renault would offer chances to avoid this but they are running a business and the rest of us shouldn’t put up people driving around ‘gratis’ because they fail to pay.
