Im finally picking my zoe up next week and seeing the range everyone shows im pretty certain ill get home without requiring a top up 🙂 its a 64mile 50-60mph trip… Does anyone think ill have any major difficulty as theres only 1 rapid on my route after around 5-10miles…
P.s. Its sheffield to leeds up hill on the m1 around 25miles then mainly downhill on the m62 for 36miles then 3miles at 30mph… As long as my miles per kwh are over 3.3 i should be fine right….

Ben, if you don’t make that journey on 1 charge I will personally come and push your Zoe home for you!

Ease off a little up the hills and set the cruise on the downhill stretch.

Sounds similar to my journey to Bristol. Up hill nearly all 25 miles on the way there, eating into the battery and causing panic to set in, then downhill all the way home and hardly touches the battery!

Brave words, all he needs is to pick up his car with less than 100% charge and for it to be raining and your going to be pushing a 2 ton car for Ben. 😉

My tuppence, pick the car up, drive to the Rapid at sensible speed (not too fast, in Eco mode). Then have your first ever go at charging, if the car won’t take a charge at least you’ve got range to get back to dealer then. Never trust a car you’ve not tested yourself.

If you successfully get a full charge then you’ll only have about 50miles to get home, stick it in normal mode (and assuming its in double digit temperature outside, not raining or too windy) give it the berries all the way home.

As for AJ, driving at motorway speeds in a hurricane and then 75mph home on a 50mile round trip and only using 2/3 or the range…. don’t believe you. Based on Tevors range predictor even if you only did 70mph the whole trip, in reasonable conditions you’d get 54miles range.

Sandy, read above – it’s uphill most of the way there and downhill most of the way back. The return leg of the journey just doesn’t touch the battery. The range predictor was showing 37 miles remaining when I put her in the garage last night. Trevors range predictor really isn’t to be taken as gospel – it’s a guestimate, just as much as Zoe’s range indicator is. It assumes a completely flat road and no wind of any sort.

Slipstream in can’t be done for too long in an ice car as it will overheat due to lack of airflow. Zoe of course loves it. The hotter the better.

I have been assured the battery will be fully charged but I’m taking advice and testing the local rapid….then once at 99% I’m giving it the beans p.s. AJ I’m looking FWD to you pushing haha….purple dash time 😀

AJ you’ve contradicted yourself there, the Zoe range app assumes flat with no wind, you drove up hill into a hurricane, so the range will be even less surely? 😉

Your also taking your range predictor as gospel, with 37miles remaining. As you’ve said your return trip was all down hill this will have artificially increased your mpkwh. First incline you get to that 37miles will tumble away at probably 3-4miles per mile covered. Its probably more like 12miles or range you really have max. 😉 Which would be about right, range of about 60-65miles from a full charge.

Oh come on, I said it was “windy” and “like” driving through a hurricane. Stop being silly. It’s June, in the UK…

If you are only getting 60-65 miles out of a charge then I’d suggest you have your car looked at. I have yet to get less than 75 miles from a charge (on a motorway run) and have managed 110 (On hilly A roads)!

Why not start a thread and see what others are getting because I’m pretty certain it’s not as low as you think.

I’ll refer you to your opening post. You covered 60miles in Eco mode and used most of your battery. 😉

I’m a complete realist when it comes to Zoes capabilities. If you drive it like you did an ICE in normal mode you will get 50-65 miles a charge. If you use ECO you will get 70-85ish If you drive only in town or drive like nan you can get 100+ If you drive at speed restricted 20mph you’ll get 150miles at risk of dying of boredom or being involved in an rta that was you ur own doing.

My opening post was my first motorway journey in Zoe and although I used “most” of the battery I did all my commute the following day and ended up with 75 miles before I dare go any lower – that is the lowest mileage I have had out of any charge yet. Since then the car is driving better and the battery is definitely holding a better charge. I seriously don’t think it’s even possible to get as little as 50 miles from a charge. That sounds ridiculously low. I don’t use ECO on the motorway – it’s dangerous frankly sitting on the speed limiter and tailing lorries is probably a good way to end up under the wheels of a lorry at some point.
